Next month - "Can an 'old dog' learn new
tricks?".
Most of us - at some time in our working and
personal lives - experience moments of fear, uncertainty and /
or turmoil. We may even be in physical pain - a pain that we
certainly feel but doctors might or might not be able to
address.
How is this relevant to you? Well, I found EFT because I recognised that there were
times when coaching clients would hit a wall of resistance.
There'd be an "no-go" area or maybe they'd come to a coaching
session really distressed about something or even in pain.
I've telephone coached clients prostrate in bed with back pain
before now! I wanted to find a tool that really alleviated
pain - emotional or physical. I should have known that it
would also help me immensely too!
So what is it? Some
people refer to it as "acupuncture without the needles". For
me, it's a mixture of affirmations and tapping in various
places that causes both physical and emotional "stuff" to
lift, even disappear. Here’s what Gary Craig’s has to say in
his manual:
“EFT is based on the discovery that
imbalances in the body’s energy system have profound effects
on our personal psychology. Correcting these imbalances, which
is done by tapping on certain body locations, often leads to
rapid remedies”.
“The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the
body’s energy system”.
If you’re feeling sceptical
right now, good. Natural scepticism is healthy and I was
certainly wary...until it began to work for me. The great news
is that it seems to work despite any scepticism!
How
have I seen it work?
A coaching client who was very distressed by a serious
personal incident was – after a two-hour EFT session together – able to be achieve
relief from the guilt that had been grinding him down for
several months. He was in a much better state then to go
forward (and get more out of the coaching). He's still tapping
daily in order to build on what he's already achieved.
Another coaching client was – when I arrived for our
coaching session – very "down" and the gremlins of negative
self-talk were in danger of encircling him once more. He’d
been working hard at his affirmations but wasn’t sure if they
were helping. Applying EFT prompted his sense of perspective to
return; and he began to laugh at how he'd been reacting to
challenging situations. By the time we'd finished the EFT he was able to look at the tasks ahead
with a genuinely positive attitude; and the affirmations had a
chance to have an impact (no more tailenders undoing his good
work). He now has a tool that he’s using daily to assist him
in his demanding job.
Most weeks over the last twelve years I’ve punished
myself by conjuring up the memory of a miniscule but
embarrassing event from the past. It has served a purpose of
reminding me not to get too happy or content (!). Since
applying the Personal Peace Procedure to this event I can
barely remember it; and it certainly doesn’t have any of its
power any more. Hurrah!
I’m conscious that I’ve said
that the process is simple and it is. I’ve had lots of
“one-minute wonder” cures. However, it’s also worth noting
that to get the best from this process there are many nuances
and subtleties that I’m in the process of studying and
understanding. Please bear this in mind. Gary Craig doesn’t
claim that it’s cure-all but he does suggest that we try it on
everything. I agree with him.
If you want to know more
about Gary Craig and EFT, please visit www.emofree.com and start on your own
journey of discovery. If you have any questions or comments,
please contact us. I've invested about 50 hours so far in my
own training and start a certified practitioner's course next
month so watch out for more news. Meanwhile it's great having
an effective tool that I can share with coaching clients my
family and friends and myself!
The London Paper – Lee’s Blog wins out of 3,000
entries!
You may recall that my younger brother,
Lee, is completing the London Marathon next month in aid of
Leukaemia Research. You may also recall that I directed you to
his blog. Since then the London Paper invited readers to submit their
blogs for potential inclusion in the newspaper and online and
3,000 people obliged. Well, Lee's blog was one of only 3 winners and his
column is included here. He definitely needs more sponsors (and some updated copy!) so please
follow this link and donate money to Leukemia Research! I know
that we all get requests left right and centre but who’d run
TWENTY - SIX MILES for less than £5,000?!
